Love food? So do we! Check this out!

FOODIE BLOG ALERT!

Hello Chocolate Smiths!

Once again, welcome to our blog! We decided to do a last minute write up of Living North and let you in on some of our favourite products from, you guessed it; The Food Hall!!!

There were so many amazing, locally produced products at the Spring Show this year and we would be letting you all down if we didn't write about at least some of them. So, with our further ado, this is what we stuffed our faces with:

Pete's Puddin' (locally produced, flavoured pease pudding) How exciting is this!?!

With flavours like smoked gammon and leek, 'broon ale', cheesy peasey and marmite there is a pease pudding for everyone! We came away with the smoked gammon and the cheesey peasey. So far we've had it on toast, in wraps, on the side of dishes and even by it's self it's that tasty! Check out their website to shop and for more details click here!

The Northumbrian Sausage Company Best. Sausages. Ever.

We've always loved the Northumbrian Sausage Company. The sausages are so juicy, full of rich flavour and locally produced of course. There is such a diverse variety of flavours, from the traditional pork sausage to chocolate and fennel - we haven't tried a sausage yet that we don't like!

They have a shop in The Grainger Market (Sausology) and attend events all the time, so they're pretty easy to find! They also run sausage making workshops. Check out their Facebook page for more details!

North Chocolate Yes. Another chocolate company!

We know what you're thinking! Why are you talking about more chocolate?? BECAUSE WE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE STUFF!!! This company is run by Bev. Bev is fab! Her chocolate is lush too! Each bar is handmade and hand wrapped, beautifully packaged and a delight to eat. You can find a variety of floral flavours all the way through to a more adventurous 'Chilli and Lime'. Some of the bars use local ingredients too, like the 'Smoked Almond' milk chocolate bar that uses almonds smoked by The Northumbrian Smokehouse! Even better! You can buy online and also see the full range of stockists on her website. You can find them at events too!

Easy Teasy do a HUGE range of delicious loose leaf teas! Black tea, green tea, Oolong tea, Rooibus tea, White tea... there's no shortage of tea here! With amazing blends like the caffeine free Creme Caramel (yes it has actual creme caramel pieces that melt into your drink!!!), Cloud Catcher (with kiwi, coconut, cherry and apple - a personal fave) and Orange Blossom Oolong (made with actual orange peel) you would be very hard pushed to find better quality than this! They also have a really cool range of tea infused chocolate using the actual tea itself! Have a look at their website for more details!

The Brownie Bar As the Brownie Bar say 'Bringing gooey to yooey!' - It could not be more true!

Ah-mayz-ing!!! The Brownie Bar are the reason we end up rolling away from events. We can't escape them. And we don't want to. To truly appreciate brownies you need to try these for yourself! We especially love their 'Corkers'. Chewy cookie baked with a fudgey, gooey brownie centre. They do loads of events and even have 2 shops! You can find them in Eldon Square or on Chillingham Road. Visit their website to find out more. Oh... and you can also order online!

The Northumbrian Smoke House Smoked cheese, smoked chicken, smoked nuts, smoked everything. Delicious, delicious smoke.

The Northumbrian Smoke House offer something really different and stupidly tasty! You can find everything from smoked nuts to smoked sugar and even smoked black pudding! We have gone through many a block of their smoked cheddar and I believe I used it in a risotto once...and I'd do it again! They even do smoked mushroom pate which tastes beautiful! Check out their Facebook Page for more information and events!

The Northumbrian Bake House  You think you've had biscuits before, you you aint had nothin' yet!

When Steffi was pregnant last year and was doing the spring Fayre at Wynyard hall, she was lucky enough to have a stand next to Stephen (the owner of the Northumbrian Bake house). She ate 3 packets of biscuits in 2 days. They are that good! We swear by these biscuits and now there are even a range of flavoured nuts and tasty granola! Yum yum!

We had such a brilliant time at Living North and we want to thank everyone who came and said hello! Remember to support your local businesses. It is a case of use it or lose it. These are people's lives, people who have a passion for bringing you the things they love! The difference is in the taste and the quality. We love all of our local businesses and we hope you've enjoyed reading about some great food finds!

Have a chocolatey day!
